About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a holistic treatment that has been practiced for over 2,000 years. This treatment is based on the theory that energy, called "qi" (pronounced "chee"), flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians.
Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances qi. Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence qi and help it flow back into balance.
Acupuncture is done by putting very thin needles into your skin at specific points on your body. This is done to influence the energy flow. Sometimes heat, pressure, or mild electrical current is used along with needles.
There are many opinions from the western medical world as to how acupuncture works, but published research shows:
- Acupuncture points stimulate the central nervous system to release chemicals such as endorphins in the body
- Acupuncture influences hormones such as serotonin and dopamine to restore balance in the body

Teresa holds a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is certified to practice in both Canada and the United States. She is among the first group of practitioners to successfully pass the Pan-Canadian board examination, demonstrating her exceptional knowledge and expertise in the field.
Teresa's compassion for others extends beyond the clinic. As a former member of Acupuncturists Without Borders, a humanitarian organization that brings acupuncture to disaster relief efforts and underserved communities worldwide, she shares its belief that healing should be within everyone's reach. That same spirit of service guides the way she cares for every person who comes to her for help.
